Here’s a playlist I put together to celebrate the change of seasons, and I thought I’d make it public because why not?

There aren’t a ton of deep cuts here — it’s mostly just songs that make me happy. Equal parts dad rock, old-skool hip-hop, punk, and a coupla surprises thrown in. If I did this right, you’ll like 1/3, hate 1/3, and not have heard the other 1/3. Enjoy!

I’m sure I’ll get over this newfound Terry Reid obsession at some point. But that point is not now.

There’s still so much amazing music out there to discover. That makes me indescribably happy.

Can’t stop listening to this heavily Gainsbourg-influenced jam. Just kills me.

WORK THIS WEEK
Not really work, per se, but it sounds better than “fun.”
Punk Hits: “So You’ve Decided to Join the American League!" A pamphlet for the Astros, inspired, like all good things, by The Simpsons. Subscribers only.

PRODcast 32: The Sanford Koufax Episode.  Did you know Sandy Koufax was born “Sanford Braun”? I did not.

I discussed my Top 10 Films of 2012 with the lovely and talented Bill Hanstock over at Progressive Boink.

I did a Top 20 Musical Things post too, a while back.

And lastly, while I didn’t have anything to do with it, I’m thrilled about the fandor/keyframe rebranding/redesign. It looks awesome.

Even Daryl Hall’s fucktarded mandolin playing can’t ruin this jam.

Random Start: Elliott Smith, “The Biggest Lie”

hermitologist:

About five years ago, I got the idea that it’d be pretty fun to start a cover band that played Elliott Smith songs on baritone guitars through Fender Bassman amps, with big gritty bass, and Bonham-esque drums, all played in a sludgy, super-heavy, shoegazey fashion. Every time I hear an Elliott Smith song, I tend to revisit that idea. I know cover bands are a bad idea 9,999 times out of 10,000, but I still think it’d be fun as hell.

That sounds like the best thing ever.
