WORK THIS WEEK
Not really work, per se, but it sounds better than “fun.”
Trailer for the forthcoming Lars von Trier film “Melancholia.”

Last night I went to see Kenneth Anger speak and show some recent work. Recent work: really not interesting. His talk: also not very interesting. Questions from students: mostly idiotic.
Anger also screened a few shorts that he’s collected on behalf of the Kinsey Institute. That part was interesting, verging on hilarious — it was basically the most awkward gay BDSM you can possibly imagine. The “acting” in these films, if you can even call it that, was so amazingly bad that it made regular porn acting seem positively Gielgudian by comparison. It was endearing in an odd way, watching a balding 50-year-old man spank a gorgeous 20-year-old boy while delivering his lines in a wooden, unconvincing manner.
Think I’ve seen all the “important” Tarkovsky now.
